For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes. Therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.

2 Corinthians 1:20, LSB

In our Lord Jesus Christ, there is nothing we are unable to accomplish that He has called us to do. We are not limited in the ability to fulfill the calling that God has given to us as His people. Every congregation, every community of Christ, has the people within them that our Lord will provide all the gifts necessary to carry out our callings. This is difficult for us to comprehend because we are often caught up in the mindset, “I can’t.” Once we say this, we often stop at that point. If God puts on our hearts to do something, we are called to trust God to help us in doing what He has stirred within us to accomplish. We may not have the natural gifts to accomplish the task for our own glory, but God can most certainly give us the ability to do it for His glory. This is how the gifts of the Holy Spirit work. We may not have the natural gifts, but the spiritual gifts of God are supernatural. In our Lord, the limitations that we may have had in attempting to do one thing or another for ourselves can be removed and, when done for His glory, become something that can be performed without tediousness but with great joy. Trust God to equip and see what great things He can do through you.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
