A complex situation, but a simple message and a simple hope given to us with a word as Mary is found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. It is through this the redemptive plan that God had instituted from the beginning of the Fall. As Adam and Eve were being cast out from the Garden, God had spoken this promised event out to the entire creation. From the safe womb of a mother into the harsh creation, our Lord entered with a purpose that would bring us to a cross. On that cross, all of our sin would be laid. The reality of the situation we stand in has been made clear for all who believe and trust. Just as God had promised through Abraham that all creation would be blessed through his offspring, we find in these words that tell us of a child in the womb of the virgin Mary the fulfillment of a promise given early on and see the love that our Lord has for us, His creatures.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
