For all the peoples walk each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.

Micah 4:5, ESV

In the truest sense of the word, there is no such thing as secular and non-secular. These distinctions are meant to divide between things religious and non-religious, but truly, there is no such thing as a non-religious person. There are those who do not acknowledge a god in their life, but that does not mean that a god does not exist for them. The idols that fill so many lives, even the lives of those who sit in a church pew on Sunday morning they are abundant. God knows this of humanity, yet He does not desire it to remain this way. He entered Creation once as a human so that we could know Him and be in a relationship with Him. His desire is for all of His creation to turn away from their idols and worship Him. Sadly, we know that this will not happen for all and there will be those who walk under other banners and follow other idols - other gods. God does not desire that any should perish, but He is holy and has provided only one path to true holiness in His Son, Jesus Christ. He promises eternity to His chosen. He has always provided a path, but many reject Him. It isn’t that they are evil in the worldly sense, but that they only understand the god that they desire to cling onto. For those who believe and trust in Him, we are to cling to His glory as we sing out His praises.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
