Waiting

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some consider slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9, LSB

Come, Lord Jesus, Come! This statement is often said and is a sign of our readiness for our Lord’s return. We await our Lord’s return but think of the graciousness of our God. He continues to give us time. Time to come to repentance. Time to come to faith. Time to proclaim His glory to the ends of the earth. We are called to proclaim His truth continually, and the hope is that all will hear. We would like to have everyone believe, but we know there will be some that won’t. We wait. We wait and proclaim the truth as He desires that none should perish because they have not heard. None should perish because they have not had the chance to repent. None should perish of His chosen. For God, the time will come at the right exact moment for Him, but we must wait and be ready, trusting in His promises, knowing that our time will eventually come, which will be with Him in eternity.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
