“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33, LSB
We all like blessings. God promises us blessings. God also promises to provide for our every need. Yet, how often do we lose sight of God? When God calls us to Himself. He does so with an understanding that there are those who reject Him. This has been a part of history. Jesus is reminding the disciples that God is the provider and not to be concerned about the things of this world, but to seek Him first. Seek to be living as one of the Kingdom first. We often are consumed with worry. We act as though all things are dependent upon us. Is this what God says? No, God doesn’t say, “Meet me halfway.” God goes all the way. He did it on the Cross. God wants us to live in His Word and trust in Him fully by keeping His Word in our lives. He wants us to fully place our trust in Him. The world will reject us. Struggles will happen. This is nothing new. Struggles and suffering are part and parcel of our fallen creation. God will restore it all and it all began with Jesus Christ. Let that be our guide and our trust. In this you can find your peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
