O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!

Psalm 84:12, ESV

Trust is a hard thing in this world. Advertisers work to build our trust and make us desire to buy their products, only to disappoint us and not live up to the promises that were given in the commercial. Friends or family fail to keep up their promises. The more this happens, the harder it becomes to trust. A pastor fails you, or a church friend does you wrong, and trust continues to fall, and it becomes harder and harder to trust in anything. This is nothing new since our spirit tends to place our trust in the things we can touch, the things of this world. The trust that we are to have in God is not meant to be defined by the world, but we are to define all things in His light. We know that the things of this world will one day fail, but God and His Word are eternal.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
