After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.”

Revelation 4:1, LSB

As Jesus gave John all the warnings to the city churches of that day, John was led up to the throne room of God. Not to be glorified but to be told all that must occur. The beauty of the room is described to the best of John’s ability, but that is only to show us the awesome wonder of being in the presence of our Lord. The warning is for all who desire to go after the things of this world, but the calling is for all of us to seek in our lives to daily enter the throne room of our Lord in our prayers and seek to be a witness to all who will hear of God and what He has done for us. It isn’t for us to feel like we are special but to understand that we are set apart by God to be holy. This is meant to be our desire each and every day as we strive to honor God in our words and our actions in every space we enter. In our work, we are meant to glorify our Lord through being faithful in all our duties. When we feel weak, we are called to turn to our Lord Jesus Christ for strength, and He will help us carry on. It is our Lord’s desire for us to remember to keep space open for Him everywhere we go and look forward to the words of our Lord, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
