One thing I ask from the LORD. This is what I seek: that I live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD, and to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 27:4, EHV

In this psalm by King David, we find a heart revealed. David’s heart was one that sought the Lord. He wasn’t perfect. He didn’t have it easy in his life. Though he was made king, he humbled himself to God. How hard do we seek Christ in our lives? This is a question that I ask often. It is easy to get caught up in the things of life that distract us from our devotion to God. It is easy to forget to talk to God, but even more difficult to talk to others about God. When we think about evangelism, images of going door-to-door and passing out tracts may come to mind, but evangelism does not have to be so programmatic. Evangelism is merely the sharing of faith. It can be simple conversations that naturally lead to talking about things of God. If you do regular devotions, it is amazing how God may place opportunities in your day to talk about what you read to others you may interact with throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be the direct question, “Do you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?” or “If you were to die tonight are you certain where you would go?” More simply it may lead to natural conversations about our Lord Jesus Christ and the salvation that He offers. Invitations may be made to join you at church services. If our focus is more on God in little ways, our focus within our work and our living will also change in little ways. We may feel better in our attitude and in our treatment of others. As we seek the Lord’s face as David did and pray to ever be in His beauty, we may find His face smiling before us more and more and in this, we may find peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
