Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you heard me.”

John 11:40–41, EHV

As Jesus was speaking to Mary of Bethany, His words are the Words that we hear from the Father and the Son regularly, “Trust me.” Throughout the Bible we see God asking for us to lay our trust in Him, yet, we find a world that does things that are contrary to His will. The will of the Father is lived out in the Son as He walked among us and the calling of our Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit is to do the same. The Holy Spirit draws us to the Father and the Son as God seeks to reshape our souls and mold us to His ways and away from that of the world. As they rolled away the stone and Jesus called to Lazarus, those who witnessed at first saw the tears, some even questioned Jesus and why He had not come sooner. Never did Jesus doubt because He knew the will of the Father. Some of us doubt and some claim but Jesus calls us away from doubt and humbles our hearts to ask for the will of the Father to be done, not to bend the Father to our will and our desire. When we pray with Jesus in our hearts it is a full submission to our Lord and an acceptance of whatever outcome He has laid out whether it be fully what we desire or not. Ultimately, we know that in the end when His will is fulfilled, so too, will all His promises come to fulfillment and we will be with Him in His eternal kingdom. In this, we may find peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
