”…teaching them to keep all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20, LSB

We are called to disciple. This is what our Lord told all the believers as He was ascending to the Father. Most Christians know the Great Commission. There are debates on the Baptism issue but that is not what will be pondered here. Our faith is a process as we enter Baptism our walk in those waters continues with a lifetime of learning and growing. One of the greatest disservices done in many congregations is having created a mentality that Sunday School is only for children. Bible Study and Sunday School best serve the family when mother and father are growing in their faith and teaching it in the home. Our journey, however, does not end in this reality because we are never truly done. God desires us to learn and grow in the faith until we can no longer. It is to be deeply ingrained in us in such a way that our lives teach all with whom we come into contact. The more constantly we learn the more often our words and our actions will be salted with the Word. Christ will never leave us, but we are called not to leave Him either. The more our lives are covered in the Word of our Lord, the more solemnly we will keep His commands, and know His nearness in our lives. In this, we may have peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
