Then the scorched land will become a pool and the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, its resting place, grass becomes reeds and rushes.
Isaiah 35:7, LSB
When the final days come, all things will be restored. This is a reality that will happen, but one we struggle with in our lives. It is easy to become discouraged in times of adversity, yet we know that God controls everything. Those who roar and threaten will only have a brief time of power, but we will have eternity with the Lord. Our suffering is only momentary but our joy in the Lord’s presence is everlasting. We are called to walk not in the difficulties of the day but in the joy of the promises of eternity. As the world cries out in alarm, we can walk in the knowledge that Christ is coming again, and the things of this world will pass away regardless of our efforts. We are called away from the worship many have of the creation and turn to our creator, knowing He oversees it all. Those who cackle and attempt to make us fearful will fail and fall like the jackals lying in wait, but their security will be removed, and our security will be kept in our Lord. In this, we can find peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
