“And they will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know Yahweh,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares Yahweh, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Jeremiah 31:34, LSB

God will remember our sin no more.  This common theme and promise is repeated throughout the Old and New Testaments. God is not seeking to bring condemnation, but He desires to forgive and bring all people into His fold. God desires for all humanity to have His Word written on our hearts. The issue isn’t that God desires to bring condemnation. He sent His Son for us so we could be cleansed of our sins. God is intolerant to sin. Like an allergy, He cannot stand to be in the presence of sin; therefore, we either need to be redeemed of our sin or cast away from Him and His presence. We cannot be forgiven of sins of which we are neither contrite nor penitent. God’s Word reveals our sin through the Law and shows us our savior through the Gospel. If the Law of God is written on our hearts the Savior and our need for Him is evident, but if we do not know or acknowledge the Law what need do we see for salvation? Let God’s Word be written upon your hearts and know the peace of our Lord.
