Refuge

It is better to take refuge in Yahweh Than to trust in man.

Psalm 118:8, LSB

If we place our faith in people, disappointment will never be far away. People fail. We fall short. Rarely do things happen as promised. This does not mean that the intentions weren’t good, but it is hard to bring completion to a task as hoped. Obstacles arise and make it more difficult. Opposition arises that cannot be overcome. This is a reality of our fallen world. Though we may suffer, one truth remains, “God will not fail.” God does not fail. Doctors will fail. I have known of doctors promising the moon in outcomes that they expect, only to leave a patient suffering sometimes worse than before. This is not true with God. In the storms of life, we can find protection in our Lord. During trials and tribulations, He will guide us to safety in Him. When we cry out to Him, He answers. He will keep us strong in our faith and will hold us fast in our suffering to bring us safely into His glory. Though man will lie, cheat, and deceive God remains true and Christ never lets go of those who belong to Him. Trust in Jesus and know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
