Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

I am the type of person that has always had a lot of questions. I see this trait in my children, and I can see how this may have driven many people crazy. Questions are good, but God wants us to pause and reflect on what He has revealed to us. God reveals everything to us, but it is not always as obvious as we may want it to be. The answers unfold to us as we truly think about the Word of God and let the Holy Scriptures shape our lives. The Word of God is meant to influence us and not the other way around. As we struggle through those parts of the Word of God and do not dismiss those most troublesome parts, we may find that things become clearer. Let our Lord be the guide, and trust in Him and His Word above all else.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
