“By your perseverance you will gain your lives.”
Luke 21:19, LSB
It can be hard to go on sometimes when things in the world continually seem to want to beat you down. Rejection is a reality in life, particularly, in the life of a Christian. The world does not desire to bend to the Will of God but would rather try to bend the Will of God to match their own will. Obviously, this doesn’t work out so well. God desires for us to stand firm in the faith and let the faith shape us. To not be fearful of rejection even if it may cost us our lives. If we try to water down Christ to make Him more tenable to the world, we lose Him completely. We fall into false belief and, even worse, may lead others into false belief. That is why Jesus calls us to be steadfast in the truth and not fall victim to the deceptions of the evil one. We are not to be afraid of anything that may come our way, but to trust in Christ and the promises He has given us in the here and now and in eternity. In this, we may find our peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
