The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight; also a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with a quarter of a hin of beaten oil. It is a regular burnt offering, which was ordained at Mount Sinai for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the LORD. Its drink offering shall be a quarter of a hin for each lamb. In the Holy Place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to the LORD. The other lamb you shall offer at twilight. Like the grain offering of the morning, and like its drink offering, you shall offer it as a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

Numbers 28:4–8, ESV

As we look to the sacrifices of old, they point us to the hope and the promise that has been realized for all who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Through the body and blood of our Lord that is offered up on the altar in the elements of bread and wine, we receive the full forgiveness that is given to us only through Christ our Lord. This is meant to bring peace to troubled souls and comfort to us in our suffering. Christ suffered and died for us, the final lamb that was led and given to atone for the entirety of Creation. A gift given once and for all. Let us remember this and honor the gracious gift that our Lord Jesus Christ has given us. Eternal glory in His final act of suffering in order to take all of our sins upon Himself

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
