But those who wait for the LORD will receive new strength. They will lift up their wings and soar like eagles. They will run and not become weary. They will walk and not become tired.

Isaiah 40:31, EHV

It is easy to try and take things on by yourself. We are naturally self-reliant. Because of this, we may forget to turn to God to seek out His guidance and to be strengthened in His power. God desires for us to always turn to Him even in the small things. The people of Israel forgot Him, though they were His chosen and had received the greatest mercy from Him. Yet, He never forgot His chosen. When those whom He loves cry out to Him, He is there! Often, we hear the words of Paul in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” These words resonate back to the promise of Isaiah as we are reminded from whom it is that our power comes. As we continue to turn to Him, God will strengthen us and carry us through all of our struggles and no amount of suffering will take us down. He is the one who gives us the power to stand and it is on our Lord we are lifted up. We can carry on because He is the one who carries us. We can be hopeful because we receive all our hope through Him. We can know peace because He is the one who gives us His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
