“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”
Matthew 6:25, LSB
The two greatest tools of the enemy are worry and regret. We often worry about things and walk around with great anxiety. Sometimes in our worries, we find regret because of errors made that may have led us down paths which create some of our anxiety and worry. Jesus wants us to lay all of those anxieties and stressors aside and lean into Him. Nothing is hidden from God. He knows our mistakes and our needs. He will provide for our needs and, when we are contrite, He forgives our errors. Sin is a struggle for all humanity and will continue to be until our Lord Jesus returns. Until that time we can set aside our past errors at His feet and move ahead and seek to live our lives to honor Him. As we move with Him, He clothes us anew in garments that no longer carry the stains of our past. He feeds us in His Word and strengthens us in the hope that only He can provide. He desires for us to know Him and to trust all things to His care. In this, we can find our peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
