Yahweh reigns, let the earth rejoice; Let the many coastlands be glad.

Psalm 97:1, LSB

What a joy! To realize that our Lord stands firm and is in control of all things. The ebbs and flows of life sing out His glory. It may not always seem that He has all things in hand, but our Lord still stands in control. When we face difficulties, we can still find hope in the beauty of a sunset or the smell of the rain. When we face our struggles, we can pray, knowing that God hears us. He is faithful in spite of our faithlessness. Every morning we can count on the sun rising and setting at the close of day. The seasons will continue, and time will pass normally. The stars will continue to move as the heavens move, and we can find comfort in the certainties that are present. They will remain, and so our Lord also remains. He stands fast in His promises, and His glory will continue to shine out as we rejoice and await the day He calls us home and restores all things to their original glory.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
