“If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is of God or I speak from Myself.”
John 7:17, LSB
God will never have us do anything contrary to His nature. New revelations of God will not contradict the past revelations. Some would say there are contradictions in the Bible, but one need only study a little to find that the supposed contradictions are not truly what they may believe them to be. God is holy and He is unchanging. His mercy is His greatest attribute. His desire is for us to turn away from our sin and He seeks to cause us to stop and ponder. The reality is that sin creates a separation from God that may only be reconciled through death. That is why He ultimately sent His Son to be born and die for our sake. He wanted to give all a path to be reconciled once and for all. Jesus came with the powerful witness of the Father and guidance of the Holy Spirit. In His coming, we also were given the Holy Spirit fully so that we may better know the will of the Father. He did this out of His nature because our God is a god who loves His creation. For this reason, we should test everything to the Word and seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all things before taking any “new” revelations to heart and in this, we may find peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
