In the light of dawn

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the fullness of day.

Proverbs 4:18, LSB

In government, we have what some call “daylight laws.” What that means is that all business conducted in government is to be done openly and in public. Sadly, many try to skirt around this. The truth is that when things are being done in a right way and a just fashion there is no reason to hide it or keep it in the dark. It is the very things that we don’t want others to know about or see that are kept in the dark. For those things that are not considered appropriate for public viewing, tend to be in dark places and kept out of the view of the general public. If we are faithful and obey God’s Word, we will find, more often than not, there will be no need to explain or justify. Normally, we find that the very things that God does not stand for require a great amount of defense and a coercion of thought to move people away from it, especially people that seek to be faithful to God and His Word. We are not meant to live out our lives for our own self-gratification, but God desires for us to serve the other and see His face in all people that we meet in our daily lives. This does not mean that we must agree with everyone and their choices, but we are called to love them and share God’s love with them that they too may come to the great freedom that is given us in our Lord as we walk in His glorious light.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
