So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27, ESV
God desires to restore us as He originally intended. He desires for us to be a greater reflection of Himself. Not that we would be all uniform in how we look, but in how we are created to be. God created male and female as a complement to one another and a reflection of His pure and holy design. Our world often mixes this up and forgets that we are made in His image and not the other way around. God is not like us, but He desires to make us like Him. How far have we fallen. Yet, God has given us a way to be restored. He entered creation and died for us. He became human without sin and then died to take all of our sins from us. He did this to restore our image and make us fully in His image again. This He did not so that we could do and be as we please, but so we would live lives that would give Him glory and praise. This is our struggle, but when we turn our lives over to Him and let Him work within us, we will find that the path down which He leads us is not so burdensome, though the path is difficult only because the world desires to draw us out of Him and into ourselves. Yet, when we turn our lives over to Him, we find our most true selves as He created us to be.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
