“’Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.’”

Revelation 3:10, LSB

A promise is given by God to all who belong to Him that He will guard them in times of testing. Like the Israelites in Egypt were protected from the plagues put upon the Pharoah and his people, we will be protected from the suffering that they will cause. The Israelites had been under the affliction of Pharoah as God was seeking to lead His people out and using Moses and Aaron to repeatedly ask for their release, but Pharoah’s heart would harden. There will be those who will afflict followers of Christ, especially as we come near the end. As God did through Moses, so He will do through us and offer a warning for the people to repent, we read that the plagues will come upon those who are not faithful to God, but His chosen, like the Israelites, will be spared from the affliction caused by God. There will be days to come in which we will suffer for the Word and great trials and tribulations, but our Lord will come and relieve us from our suffering and bring us into His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
