In Control

The earth is Yahweh’s, as well as its fullness, The world, and those who dwell in it. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.

 Psalm 24:1–2, LSB

In our world, that is so consumed with fear. Fear of the other, fear of the climate, fear of war, fear…fear…fear, it is nice to be reminded of the full control that our Lord truly has over everything. We are called to be good stewards of God’s good creation, but, in reality, God is still in control. He established it all, and we must not allow the fears that some are attempting to instill in us to cause us to lose the peace that God desires for us to know. God promised never to bring a global flood again. It is fully in His power to do so, but we can be confident that it won’t happen because God has told us it won’t. In the greatest times of uncertainty, we can always find comfort in God. Not because He will beckon to our call but because He has promised to care for us. In this, He is faithful, and He calls us also to be faithful in our worship and trust in Him. Our Lord founded all of it, and our Lord is still over it all. Let us humble ourselves to Him and allow Him to guide us in our practices so that we are good stewards of all that our Lord has created and seek to reflect the face of Christ in all that we do.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
