Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

Romans 12:17, ESV

Growing up, I was a fighter. If someone hurt me or made me cry, I would do all I could to hurt them at least as much as they hurt me. I think many in our world can relate. That is often the way of the world. Someone does or says something against you, well you better respond in kind. Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, etc. have created an environment of attack. It is easy to repay evil for evil, wrong for wrong. The world seeks its pound of flesh. God calls us to be different. Instead of responding with anger, we are called to respond in love and leave our anger and hurt at God’s feet. Jesus told us to pray for our enemies. Our hearts are to remain soft that we don’t stop praying. Prayer changes everything as we place our trust in our Lord.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
