Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23, ESV
It is easy for us to lose sight of the promises that You have poured out in so great abundance for us. The belief that we cling to with our Baptism and the newness of life given to us in those waters. While we walk in our lives, we can easily forget what has been given to us as we know that those waters are not a past event, but, like your resurrection, we always have it in our present. Our salvation promise stands ever before us, and our sin is left behind us. We don’t need to carry the mistakes and errors we have made into the future with us, but those are taken away by our Lord, and when people try to bind them to us, let us proclaim our Lord Jesus Christ. He does not excuse us from those past sins, but He forgives us and redeems us in the glorious promise of His claim on our lives. We are sinners, yes this is true, but in Christ, we are redeemed sinners. Our confession of hope is grounded in this truth and this reality. This is that which is promised to us in Christ and Christ alone. No other god offers such a gift. No other god can give such a promise. We honor and worship the one, true God, our creator, our redeemer, who has always been and ever will be. Here we find that our confession is true.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
