You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.

Psalm 65:11, ESV

This Psalm of David just drips with God’s abundant love and grace for us and His Creation. When we look upon all the blessings we receive and peer upon all of Creation’s glory, in every cut and groove we see where God has been at work and shining out Himself to us. It is through Him we are blessed and when we think of the salvation given to us through Jesus Christ on the Cross, we are reminded of the mercy that God has for His chosen. We are not great through our own making, but through the hand of God working in our lives we are made great and set apart to do the great work which He has called us to. Not all will recognize this and the greatness of God’s hand may seem like rags to those who are blinded and seek after the things that the deceiver places before them. These things are false and will fall away and fail all who seek happiness and hope through them. Yet, in our Lord, we find peace and comfort. We find security in the knowledge of our chosen-ness. We are made new in the redemption offered to us, and the things of old fall away as dirty rags, worthless and unusable. In Christ, we have our hope and we can see His fingerprints in our lives as we humble ourselves to His glorious love.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
