Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

Hebrews 1:1–2, ESV

In the Old Testament, the fullness of Christ was veiled, but there were signs that would point to Christ and the hope that He would bring for us all! The promised salvation that we would receive as His Lordship would be fully established. His first throne was a manger in a simple barn and His second throne was a wooden cross on which He was hanged so that redemption could be won for us all. There are still those that seek out prophets, but we have the words that have come from the Son Himself and we can listen and follow His guidance and let it guide us in our lives. We no longer have to sit and wonder because the King has been revealed to us in Christ and Christ alone. He will restore all creation because He was also there to create it originally. We can find hope and confidence because we have been claimed by Him who has given us the promise that we will be brought into His kingdom. And it all begins at a manger in Bethlehem.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
