“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.”

Isaiah 65:17, ESV

When our Lord returns all things will be recreated. The fallen nature of our world will be no more. This was the promise given through the Prophet Isaiah that points not to the first coming of Christ, but His second. Christ will come and call us out of the world to bring about the end and then we will find the world restored. The sins of the past will be forgotten, and sin will no longer be a part of creation. All things will be as God had originally intended and we will always stand in the glory of our Lord. This is hard to fully comprehend because our mistakes are often the hardest things for us to forget. I know that I often remember the things that I messed up more often than I remember the things that I have done right, and I don’t believe that I am alone in this. In Christ, however, this is not how it is nor how it will be. When we confess our failures, Christ forgives us, and we must not think about it any longer. How hard is that to comprehend? However, that is the truth and the blessing and promise that we all walk within as we keep our hearts and minds focused on Christ and Christ alone.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
