“I am the Alpha and the Omega, THE FIRST AND THE LAST, the beginning and the end.”

Revelation 22:13, LSB

The Son has always been and will forever be. This is the truth of God. The Triune nature of God has always been. Our God is like no other in this reality and we are not meant to comprehend this reality fully. Yet, in this reality, we find our hope and our trust. The miracle that our God entered humanity in one person of Himself, lived, and walked among His creation is incomprehensible. God did not appear to be human in Jesus, but at the same time being wholly divine, He was human. Even though His human body was broken for our sins on the Cross, this body He resurrected and ascended. The imagery of Revelation points to this and we struggle to understand, but one thing we can cling to and know with certainty in our hearts is that our God has done it all for His creation and He remains. This is a hope that we cling to and whether we see Him when He closes history on this earth or when we pass from this life to the next, the hope remains the same. The great I AM is and forever will be and He is our God. In this, we may find peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
