Faithful is He who calls you, who also will do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:24, LSB

When Jesus gave us His promise before His death, He promised us that we would not be left alone. He promised for all who believe and trust in Him would be given an advocate to ensure that we could do the work which He has called us to. We need not feel that we are alone because our Lord is trustworthy. He would fulfill the work He began in the world in us and through us. This is unlike our world, which calls us to self-reliance, but we, as followers of Christ, are fully reliant on God. We are meant to be set apart for the sake of our God and as a sign to all that we come into contact with of the love of God. Our lives are meant to point to Christ, who gives us strength and renews us. As we entrust all things to Him, He pours His love upon us and gives us the grace and comfort of His forgiveness. God is faithful in the promise of forgiveness that He promises to us. He is forgiving beyond our own ability. He gives us the ability to do it all because of what He has done for all of us who believe and trust in Him.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
