Everything Changed

The Manger. That’s it.

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”

Luke 2:15, ESV

When God entered creation as a baby, everything changed. Not everyone realized it. Not everyone was there, as the angels announced it to the shepherds. Not everyone believed the shepherds. That doesn’t change the reality that God entered His creation and that all would be able to be made clean, made new. In Christ, we are a new creation. God wants us to know this and wants us to see this. All the mistakes that were made yesterday, once we lay them at Christ’s feet, are gone. God wants us to know this reality. Our past does not need to define our future. We can begin anew. How will your life be different? How will you avoid the mistakes of the past? Let’s see this thing that has happened.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
