There’s a derelict factory grounds very close to me, this wall has been erected since the car park was closed to stop cars entering. I love the engraved arrow, rather than the usual, obvious plastic signage. I’m always looking for direction, this photo reminds me that every way is a way.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28, LSB

It is easy to feel as though the weight of the world is falling upon our shoulders from time to time. It isn’t abnormal and it isn’t anything new in the world. Christ knew this of people, so He called out and spoke these words. God’s desire isn’t for us to feel like we must fix the world. He will take care of what needs to be done, He calls us to be faithful to Him and seek His guidance in all things. We live in a world in constant flux and the pressures placed upon us all can be immense. Growing up, there was much talk telling us to, “Save the Planet!” When I was a kid, we were told to use plastic bags to save the forests. Now many of the things we were told to do or were going on have been turned on its head. The message of our Lord, Jesus Christ, has remained constant. It hasn’t changed. The world tries to twist His message to fit whatever is important at the time, but these attempts fall apart when tested to the Word. The message of our Lord is to rest in Him and trust in Him. The noise of the world tries to drown Him out as we are being called to by many little saviors who offer no salvation at all. Let our eyes not lose sight of the Lord and His promises and let us rest in His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
