When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Colossians 3:4, ESV

Christ is life; in particular, He is the life of all who believe and trust Him. How so? Without Christ, life has a permanent end. In Christ, eternity stands before all who believe. The reality that Christ has presented to us is the new life we are promised in Him and Him alone. This is the alternative to the death that we have earned in our sin, but He has taken on Himself our sin which He paid for with His life. As we live our lives in Christ and keep our focus on Him, we will, in the end, be in His glory. It is a struggle as we often focus on the things that we must do and what we must give up in order to faithfully follow Him. Sadly, this is the place where many become stuck. Why? The focus is not on the things of God, but on the things of this world and we fail to see that what our Lord has to offer is so much greater. Life in Christ is not based on trying to achieve all the glory of the world, but to stand in Christ’s glory for eternity. To achieve perfection and remove those things that tend to cause misery is the goal of our Lord, who desires us to know His eternal joy; why would anyone be resistant to this? This is the great conundrum we face in our world as people struggle to lose themselves in the faith of Christ and seek to reflect Christ in their lives. Keep focused on the things above and let Christ show you His most perfect love as you look forward to standing fully in His glory.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
