“But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!”

Isaiah 44:1, ESV

God chooses His people! How amazing is that? As a kid, I remember the worst feeling was when two kids were chosen to be team leaders in gym and would each take turns picking each team. The worst position would be the one who was not really picked but the last choice because there was no one else to pick. With God, it is not this way. If you can proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12:3. You are only able to do that through the power of the Holy Spirit. God has given us the Holy Spirit as our advocate, and He reveals to us His glory. We have been grafted into God’s chosen people through Jesus Christ. Let that sink in for a minute. The people of Israel were not always the best and often failed to stay faithful to God, but God chose them. God does the same for us, not because we are deserving but because He has chosen us. Let your life be a bold witness of one whom God has chosen.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
