For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7, LSB

Our spiritual life and our walk with God are not lived on the mountain top faith moments but in the valleys of life lived within the struggles of normal life. God will inspire us, but we are called to act and live our faith out in the lives of others. God will not set up billboards and street signs constantly pointing us to the exact things and places that He desires us to do, but He will guide us as we are faithful to be in His Word and prayer. Walking by faith and not by sight doesn’t mean that we are to walk blindly, but we are to trust in God and be faithful to do the things that He has placed on our hearts to do. It is a calling for us to remain faithful in the difficulties that we will find in our lives. Like David, we are to keep our trust in the protection that God will offer even when it seems that the world is after us. The reality that we will find in life is that when we are doing exactly what God is calling us to do, we will find that there will be difficulties because the world is not after the things of God and desires to keep those whom we will lead away from them and into the truth that is found in Christ Jesus.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
