Blessed to be a Blessing

“And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Genesis 12:3, LSB

From the beginning, God had a plan to redeem His creation. Through Abraham’s line, we find that blessing fulfilled in our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. As the Messiah entered creation, the plan began to unfold, and we continue to see it before us today. Salvation comes as God’s blessings fall upon His chosen. The struggles that we see in our world today are a shadow of the battle that has been fought for millennia by those powers that wish to thwart God’s plan of restoration. When those powers led to the crucifixion of our Lord by the haters of God, it was their undoing and we who believe stand in the hope of the One who will reign victorious. This does not mean that we will not have struggles; in fact, our struggles will deepen as we come closer to the end. As the last gasps of the evil one are breathed out, there will be greater intensity, but this too shall pass. All families who believe and trust in our Lord will be blessed through the line of Abraham as we receive the great outpouring of our Lord and are received into His glorious kingdom as His children.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
