Belief

Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 5:5, ESV

The greatest gift that God has given us is belief. Sometimes we may think that this is something that we have by our own will. God is the great giver of faith, so it only takes a little of it to make a big difference. Unfortunately, we don’t often cling to our beliefs. The reason for this is that though God is a rational God, it is seen in the world that to believe is not rational because it is not from ourselves but from God. It is something to which we cling and not produce. It is trusting in something that is from outside of ourselves. Too often, this is clear when we have nothing more to which we may cling. This causes us so much unnecessary pain. Begin first by clinging to the faith and promise of Jesus as the Son of God and see how much He can change your worldview.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
