If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.

1 Timothy 4:6, ESV

It's hard sometimes to stand by the word of God because our pride, shame, guilt, or shortcomings come before us. Occasionally, we have issues arising in our past that arise inside us, and we become afraid. We become fearful of what others may think. Sometimes, we allow that to get in our way when we hurt or are hurt. Paul is giving words to Timothy, telling him he needs to stand on the Word that he knows and be faithful to stay with God's word, not being afraid to proclaim the truth but building up brothers and sisters in the faith of Christ Jesus. So that they will come to that full knowledge of what God has done and is doing within them, standing firm in the Word and always teaching what it is that God desires. He does not let anyone look down on him because he is a younger person, but he is always willing to stand firm and give a strong witness to all who will listen. Being thoughtful of how he lives his life, how he shows love and compassion to other brothers and sisters within the community, and also how he should treat everyone with whom he comes into contact. This is the calling for every Christian. As we go out into the world, we will find those who may not want to agree. Sometimes, they will tell us that we are young, and when we know better than then, we can give them guidance, but we are not to hold back from standing up for the truth of Christ Jesus, and we are not to withhold correction to others that need to know that what they're doing is robbing the light of Christ from their lives the word of God is a word that sets us all free. Free to know Christ, free to know his forgiveness, free to know his love, and we are to be trained up to stand firm and stand fast in this truth. Let that truth guide you in your life.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
