And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Hebrews 9:27-28, ESV

Are you ready? When we know that change is coming, we are filled with a variety of feelings. Anticipation can bring excitement and fear. A new job, a new home, a new city all of these can be moments of excitement, joy, fear, and anxiety. The unknown is scary. Death, however, for a Christian, should not fill us with anxiety and fear, but for most, there is still some of that fear and anxiety within us. It is natural, so God, knowing our hearts, gives us some encouragement. When we trust in Jesus Christ, we can be filled with confidence that he has forgiven us all of our sins, and He wants us to feel comfort knowing that we are saved.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
