And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Revelation 21:5, ESV

I like new beginnings. It is nice to begin with a clean slate where we don’t have to worry about past mistakes or errors that we may have made. The forgiveness that our Lord offers to us is total, and when the world is recreated as our Lord intended, it will truly be a clean slate. Our past sins will truly be gone and will no longer come to mind. Sinful desires will be removed from us. This is the most wonderful gift our Lord gives to us. Not only will we be forgiven, but in the new creation of our Lord, there will be no need for forgiveness because we will no longer have sin within us. What a beautiful reality that lies before us as we know that the Word of our Lord is trustworthy. We know that what He says will come to pass. In our Lord, we are promised new beginnings.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
